When a group of isolated archaeologists and researchers stumble upon an ancient structure stuck in the ground and begin researching it, deciphering its meaning and purpose… things start going awry.

People working in the detached, backwoods camp speculate after finding the peculiar structure things start getting unreal. The research progresses little by little and the speculation shifts from things like aliens to ancient civilizations. Overall it’s quite clear that the people working at this remote facility are under-equipped and unprepared to deal with a situation like this or professionally any situation. The solitude or perhaps some outside force might eventually influence them because of the unearthed structure, but it appears they aren’t very experienced from the start even though they’re supposed to be in some form or another. The only members of the team that seem to have some knowledge are the characters you see least of and a person that was flown in with a chopper days/weeks before.

After several days have passed people start asking for a supply drop to come in but that’s when someone who was supposed to be the leader of the team finds out that the radio isn’t able to contact the main office, so they are entirely cut off from the outside world. Even the supposed engineer can’t find a way to get in contact the outside world by fixing the radio... People start going crazy because of the isolation, cold and the artefact itself, and they even start seeing things. This continues throughout the rest of the film with some disturbing set-pieces (at least they’re meant to be), but like most plot points throughout the movie, they aren’t very well explained or developed further.

Apart from these negative opinions about the movie, some things I liked were the location and the premise of a team of researchers and archaeologists finding a rare artefact/structure sadly apart from the slightly promising start it was just a botch-fest.
