Year-in Awards 2021

2nd annual Year-in Awards

It’s always exciting to bring our readers fresh reviews, but nothing more-so than the Year-In Awards. While you could see it as an imitation of the Oscars, I think it is mainly meant as a different perspective.

Last year it was published before the Academy Awards but this year, we took some time, both personal and professional to get the list as complete as possible. Perhaps next year the list will be posted around January/February again but for now I’m quite happy to bring you this wholly-comprised list in April.

As per last year, any films that have been shown only on film festivals during the calendar year will not be included whilst films with a limited release from 2020 with a public release in 2021 are fair to include. We’ve seen each and every film that has been nominated by Mark’s Remarks and if any are excluded it’s simply due to a lack of time, or simply because we missed it.

Some reviews of films nominated might not have been published since we couldn’t fit them in a week’s worth of reviews but will appear as soon as there is a fitting place and time for them.

With all that aside, I hereby finally present the 2nd annual Year-In Awards, something new, something interesting. Who are the winners of Mark’s Mark? Find out below.

Thanks for checking the list this year, we hope you enjoyed all listed films, and agree with our choices. And perhaps there are some that you’ve yet to check out! Just like last year this list is final, and in the case I might still watch some omitted films from 2021, the Year-In list won’t be edited after this point.

On to 2022!
